Course Map for the Desperate

We love that folks are really up for a new Disc Golf course, and while the course is not officially open, Co. Farm is a public park and open for a good hike, dawn to dusk.   And just in case you happen to have a disc along and decide to test the course out,  just so you won't get lost, here is the current and likely permanent layout for our course at County Farm Park.

Please be careful as you walk the property.  This is no tame PGA meadowland - there are still plenty of sticks and branches, stumps and vines and thorns, not to mention more than a few sinkholes.  Things will eventually become a bit more civilized, but till then, you are responsible for your own safety.

Time for the Ten Hour Tidy

While the weather and the calendar may not be helping us make much progress, the delivery truck has arrived again bringing another vital piece to the effort.  We have been desperately in need of two things, first, a good way to clean up all of the woody debris created in clearing fairways through the brush (mostly an invasive species called Autumn Olive), and second, some obvious paths to lead players from the last basket to the next tee (not just another deer trail).  Those two things have just been made possible.

So far it has only been run for a few hours, but so far it's impact has been impressive.  Now, when it is too wet to lay in tee boxes or our trusty troupe of volunteers falls below the threshold for installing tee boxes, we will be able to focus on cleaning up all the many bits of foot tangle and mower mangle not to mention some of the truly impressively large piles of woody dross scattered about.

For you early adopters - when you hear this beastie running somewhere on the course you may want to skip a hole or two to stay clear of the work in progress.  We will not be sympathetic to complaints that "the chipper ate my disc!".

The Course that cannot wait to BE

The lure to play is almost too much to resist as the course begins to green and bloom now that spring has fully sprung.  While we haven't really opened the course officially, we are already seeing a lot of folks from all over the area that can't wait to get started.  To accommodate the eager, stay tuned and we will try to post a course map to help keep you all from getting lost along the way...

This is what your view of the basket on sixteen will look like as you prepare to make your second throw (assuming of course you were able to make that precise drive with just enough fade to avoid the big cedar waiting on the right and not so much as to put yourself in the blackberry brambles on the left).

While the Easter holiday and Mother's day have slowed our progress on tee box installation, with a little luck we could have another half dozen of them installed by the end of the month.
