Timber Salvage of Tornado Damaged Stand

Thanks to a Boy Scout hiking event at the beginning of Nov. 2011 we discovered some tornado damage from late July of that year to a stand of timber at the remote southern end of County Farm Park. The extent of the damage was significant. Approximately three dozen mature trees were uprooted, toppled, or shattered.

It is the Park Boards intention to attempt to salvage as much timber as may be feasible to help minimize the cost of future structures that may be erected at the park (bathrooms, etc.). With the help and expertise of Board Member Richard "Woodsy" Bower, we have determined that there are nearly 8000 board feet of Ash, Oak, and Cherry to be had. We are currently looking into bringing a portable saw mill on site to do the job, assuming we can garner the required financial support from County Council.
